Conditions of Entry
Overview
The purpose of these Conditions of Entry is to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors to the George Wood Performing Arts Centre (“GWPAC”) and the surrounding Yarra Valley Grammar site (“site”), as well as staff and property.
The Conditions of Entry (“Conditions”) apply to your entry and use of the George Wood Performing Arts Centre, external areas including onsite carparks and forecourt, and associated areas such as the Black Box Theatre, foyer spaces and other Yarra Valley Grammar facilities.
In these Conditions, references to:
- We, us, our, Venue, GWPAC or George Wood Performing Arts Centre means Yarra Valley Grammar, and its employees, agents, officers and independent contractors.
- You or your refers to you, or any person with you, including dependents or children under your supervision.
You must comply with these Conditions and follow the reasonable directions of GWPAC staff, as well as any signage in relation to your entry and use of the venue.
Admission and Eviction
Admission to the Venue
You must have a valid ticket or entry pass to attend an event or performance and appropriate evidence of entitlement when purchasing a ticket or attending an event or performance with a concession or companion card.
Once an event of performance has commenced, at our discretion, you may only be admitted or re-admitted to the venue during a suitable break in the event or performance, and this may be to a different seating location.
Minors must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian at all times.

Refusal of Entry and Eviction from the Venue
We reserve the right to refuse entry to or evict any person (without refund) from the Venue and site if you:
- Breach any Condition of Entry
- Damage property or create a risk of damaging property
- Are found to have any prohibited item in your possession
- Behave in an anti-social, offensive, disruptive, or harmful manner
- Appear intoxicated or under the influence of illicit substances or alcohol
- Are suspected of buying, selling or holding alcohol (when and where not permitted) or illicit substances
- Enter restricted areas, including the stage, without our authorisation
- Refuse to follow any reasonable direction given by us
Your Belongings and Prohibited Items
You are responsible for the security of your own belongings while on the site.
You must not:
- Leave any bags or personal items unattended.
- Have in your possession and/or refuse to surrender to us any prohibited item.
The following items are not permitted to be brought onto the site (defined as ‘prohibited items’):
- Any illicit substance including alcohol or drugs
- Animals, other than registered assistance animals
- Weapons, glass, flares, fireworks and smoke bombs
- Unauthorised advertising material
- Professional cameras, tripods, laptops, drones, tablets or other audio or video recording devices
- Any other item that in our opinion causes or may cause harm, damage, public nuisance or create a trip hazard
The following items are not permitted to be brought into the Venue’s auditorium:
- Drinks in glass or cans and hot food or drinks
- Large bags or any large item that cannot be placed under a seat
- Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, roller blades and roller skates
- Paint, marker pens or similar items
- Prams, pushers and strollers
- Golf or large umbrellas
- Any other item that in our opinion causes or may cause harm, damage, public nuisance or create a trip hazard
We reserve the right to:
- Inspect and search you and your belongings while you are on the site.
- Require any prohibited item to be stored in the Venue Office or Box Office, which may attract a fee.
Your Behaviour
You are responsible for behaving in a manner that does not interfere with the safety and enjoyment of others and protects the Venue.
If another person’s behaviour is affecting your safety or comfort, please notify GWPAC staff when it occurs. We cannot assist once the event has concluded.
Unacceptable Behaviour:
- Causing property damage or behaving in a manner that threatens or may threaten the safety of performers, visitors, audience members or any other persons, including as a result of intoxication.
- Causing disruption or disturbance to any event, performance, visitors or staff undertaking their duties.
- Using hate speech, threatening, behaving violently or in an anti-social manner to any person.
- Recording or streaming any part of an event, including via mobile devices, unless authorised by us.
- Undertaking dangerous activities, such as crowd surfing or climbing onto stage or set structures.
- Soliciting, collecting money, distributing pamphlets or advertising material, posting signs or posters on the site or affixing anything to the Venue, unless authorised by us.
- Taking photographs, audio or video recordings where this has been prohibited.
- Consuming food or drink, including alcohol, purchased outside the venue, unless otherwise indicated
- Entering areas of the Venue or site that are not open to the public, unless authorised by us.
Alcohol, Smoking and Vaping
Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vapes, and the use of illicit substances, is strictly prohibited in the Venue, anywhere on site, and within 4 metres of entry to the site.
The GWPAC may obtain a Temporary Limited Liquor License to sell alcohol via our contracted catering team at our bar/kiosk. As such, we support and practice the Responsible Service of Alcohol and comply with the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998.
- You must not hold or consume alcohol purchased from outside the Venue.
- If you are considered to be intoxicated, affected by alcohol or behaving inappropriately, you may be refused entry or evicted from the Venue and/or refused alcohol service at our discretion.
During licensed events:
- You are only allowed to consume alcohol in licensed areas of the venue. There may be certain spaces or rooms where consumption or presence of alcohol is not permitted.
- You may be asked to empty bottles before entering the Venue. Free water is available via water bubblers located in the foyer space.
- Entry of minors is at our sole discretion. If entry is granted, a parent or guardian must remain with the minor at all times and is responsible for the minor. The parent or guardian may be refused alcohol.
Use of Your Image
You consent to and authorise us to film, record or photograph you, and to reproduce recordings in any audio, video or photographic display or other transmission, publication or reproduction in any medium or context without further authorisation by, or compensation or attribution to you.
All recordings are our sole property and you release us from liability arising on account of such usage.
Security cameras operate on the site and you acknowledge that you may be filmed.
Other
Liability
You enter the site and venue at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the GWPAC will not be responsible for any loss, damage, harm or injury arising from your entry to the site.
Other Conditions
These conditions prevail in the event of inconsistency with any specific conditions which may apply to certain events, in which case the conditions will be clearly stated on the event booking page.
